Which NPC's in which order? [Thar be spoilers in dem thar hills]

Playing with a custom party of 4, but I still want to do all of the NPC quests. Is there a good order to do them in and a way to sort of force the quests to start other than cheating? I don't want them to soak up XP since I will be dumping them when I finish their quests [might keep Korgan and Jan [I'm semi-doing a "short people only" run, hence the custom party]. I am thinking I'll pick up Korgan immediately and save the 6th slot for each of the NPCs in chapter 2, then grab Jan when its time to finish up the game [or alternate Korgan and Kan].

    I usually do the quests for the NPCs I want to keep in my party, then the ones that can be fully completed in Athkatla first before branching out.
