Whither Anomen?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
So Anomen's father's messenger finds us in the Windspear Hills (he's good), and gives Amonen the message to go home. I must have hit the wrong dialogue option (I was aiming for 'yes, we'll go see your father, but not just yet') and he walks away. I figured I'd just pick him up again in Athkatla, and proceeded to go give the dryad her acorns. By the time I get back to the city though, he was nowhere to be found (not the Delryn Estate, not the Copper Coronet, not his temple). Is he gone for good? I hope not, he was carrying some serious gear.

    Yeah, looks from the dialogue files that he's gone permanently. I assume he went home, got the news from his father, went to Saerk's estate by himself and got killed. You'll have to revert to an earlier save or replace him :/

    He might also have gone to the government building in the ahhh... Government district, depending where you were on his quest.
