Near Infinity

Sorry to start a new thread about this wonderful little tool, but I am having a heck of a time determining what the newest available version is and where to get it from. Could someone point an itinerant Bard in the proper direction?

I miss Infinity Explorer. It's long overdue for an update.

@Dazzu, I like Infinity Explorer too. In particular, I like how dialogues are displayed, i.e. in trees.

I'm still using the old version of Infinity Explore to browse dialogues in BG:EE. In fact, this particular feature still works, if you create an hard link to dialog.tlk in the main game directory and put there also a copy of baldur.ini from the BG(n):EE subfolder in My Documents. Just don't use Infinity Explorer to do something else, like viewing areas, because it will crash horribly.

I tried the latest version from the Infinity Explorer website, which is .85... and it doesn't work with EE games, or at least BG2 EE. I'll try that.

@Dazzu, yes as I said not everything works, but you can browse dialogues (see image under the spoiler tag), but you have to put copies of both dialog.tlk and baldur.ini in the main game folder, i.e the one with the file chitin.key in it. For dialog.tlk a copy is enough, but an hard link is better.

Hey guys, I have a little problem here. I finally decided to use Near Infinity, to change "Dark Justice" appearance from longsword to Two-handed sword and make it usable only by Fighters, Rangers and Paladins who has any Lawful alignment. But when I click save, it shows me "Error while saving ohbwing.ITM". What do I need to save item changes and make it obtainable in the Original game, please?

@Rylorn23‌ It's most likely a permission issue if you've installed the game into either "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)". You'll have to start NearInfinity with Administrator rights.

The easiest way is probably by opening the Windows Explorer as Administrator (right-click on explorer icon and select "Run as administrator") and start NearInfinity from there.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I can't seem to reliably read the changes made to CRE files by mods. After installing SCS NI is telling me that for example Sarevok, Semaj and Angelo have worse THAC0s than before.
Before installing SCS I tried installing BG2 tweaks component that should give all creatures max HPs and that didn't seem to work either according to NI (I think one creature of about 8 that I checked got more HP). The CRE files were created in override folder for what its worth.
Any advice would be appreciated. Is NI wrong tool for this?

The THAC0 thing isn't actually a bug. SCS generally corrects small deviations between a creature's actual THAC0 and the THAC0 it ought to have given its level. In the case of Sarevok, he goes from THAC0 2 to THAC0 5. Since he also has +3 to hit from his strength and +3 from his quintuple-specialisation, his effective THAC0 goes from -4 to -1.

That explains the THAC0 thing. And actually I was mistaken about Angelo as he got his THAC0 lowered by 6 points. It seems that only Sarevok had his HPs raised, but that is probably working as it should.

Nowadays there is no baldur.ini which has been replaced by baldur.lua.
Do I assume that I now need baldur.lua in the main folder.
