Quite good way to get at least the early levels are
    - for mages, to scribe scrolls
    - for Thieves to open every single locked box nearby, disarm each trap. There are some for this purpose at the Shadow Thieves Guild.
    - Do some quests that don't need you to fight (the mournful Paladin at Graveyard district, some investigations at the Bridge District, getting the bear for the restless boy spirit at Copper Coronet...)

Scribing all the scrolls should do the trick.
  • Well, you're a level 10 mage with a full spellbook, so you can probably handle some light combat, especially if you're willing to abuse spells like Cloudkill. If you have excess cash sitting around, you could always erase spells from your spellbook to rescribe them (subject to available supply from the scroll merchants).

If you can make it through the random encounter where you acquire Renfield's body, you can probably do the quest to recover Montaron from the Harpers, as that has little combat involved. Southpaw's suggestions are pretty good too.
