Was always wondering why the different intallation pathways

I mean why didn't I get to choose what folder I install BG2EE in while getting that option for BGEE. Why is there a startup screen for BGEE that allows for updating, but to update BG2EE I need to update with beamdog?
(Both were got and downloaded via beamdog)

    I got to choose my installation paths with no trouble. Did you perhaps use the Beamdog client to install the games? I imagine that probably has a default directory it dumps the games in. Wouldn't know, I just used the .exe installation file.
