Fallen Paladins Truth from Myth

LizafosLizafos Member Posts: 2
I've been reading some forums on this site saying things like "fallen paladins can not put three points into a specialization" which I have tried and know is false. I also started getting harm touch and vampire touch as abilities instead of normal lawful good abilities. I did lose lay on hands but that was it. Does anyone know the specifics behind fallen paladins or if any other stats change as well?
note: this was not in enhanced edition but the original saga.

Fallen Paladins lose all abilities, afaik they are like fighters but limited to specialization except TWF, which warriors and some rogues can put 3 pip into.

Those abilities are granted to all low reputstion PCs... good rep grants different abilities. Fallen Paladins arent really that bad, but are a bit weak in BG2. There might be something you can do about your status in BG2, I think.

I was not limited to specialization and have 3 points in Large Swords. I also kept detect evil and protection from evil.

Sounds buggy, especially the special abilities like detect evil. Do you have any mods, or have you edited anything via EE Keeper?

Apparently this is the original saga (BG1 original) so it could very well be buggy.

If that is the case then honestly they could very well get it in the BG1 engine I don't know. But from my recollection they normally can't get above specialisation in the BG2/BGEE engine.

Now woth blackguards available, fallen paladins should turn into that class instead of weaker fighters. I mean, falling from grace should have consequences that are more interesting than having to re-load. :)

A Blackguard requires a patron - not just for a Paladin to have done something evil.

Clearing a misconception here - paladins can fall and not become evil. In fact even good-aligned fallen paladins aren't out of the question. It depends greatly on the deity and act.
