what about the old new spells

so heart of winter added some "new" (at the time) spells. like alicorn lance, or seven eyes, now i know from trying before that getting them to work at the same time as the new spells from baldurs gate 2 was hard, its why we could never get the ice wind dale tutu mods to work right. so I am wondering if they are abandoning the heart of winter spells for the baldurs gate 2 ones.

Both BG2 and Heart of Winter spells will be in the game.

that's awesome, thanks, I was thinking about how over powered a ranger/cleric will be with all the great offensive magic they gave druids in heart of winter

Well they only get druid spells when their ranger level would allow it. It doesn't work the same way as it does in BG1/2.

A fighter/druid would basically gain access to those spells quite a bit quicker (for instance with a cleric/ranger multiclass you wouldn't gain access to level 3 druid spells like Spike Growth until you hit level 12 as a ranger, even in a situation where you can already cast level 3 cleric spells).

Likewise in the case of a ranger -> cleric dual class you would only get access to those druid spells that you can get for your ranger level. So if you dual class at level 2 from a ranger to a cleric then you'll only get cleric spells (regardless of your cleric level).

However, let us not forget that Rangers (Paladins & Bards) have significantly improved spell casting in IWD!
