Mage stronghold quests.

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I have completed the quest where three students make items and then have graduation. The ambush quest is not fireing. Is there something I missed? I thought I would be called back to the sphere. I have done 2 levels of Watchers keep since then and some other stuff. Does anyone know the time limit or trigger for this?

    I believe it takes a while (like a week?), and I also think that the messenger only appears within the city, not in other zones.
