The fact is, the problem was you. There is no need to sign in to Beamdog to download the client. You CAN sign in if you want and you apparently did, but just because you went through a needless step does not mean it is required.

You need only sign into Beamdog ONCE, just like GoG. How many times you mistakenly do so is irrelevant.

The only problem was the mistake YOU made.

@RAM021 -- Since you seem to genuinely not be getting this, I'll explain it one last time: you are wrong. I did not use the client at all, I have no interest in using the client, and so I didn't unnecessarily sign into Beamdog to download the client. I signed into my Beamdog account to download the stand-alone installer (which does require me to be signed in). After downloading the stand-alone installer, I was then asked to log in using my Beamdog login info within the installer. That's TWICE.

It wasn't a mistake made by ME. Obviously you are using the client and are unfamiliar with the stand-alone installer, which is fine, but you need to read carefully and gather information before mistakenly accusing people of things and insulting them.

Edit: Edited to include @RAM021's post in my comment.

The fact remains you do not need to be logged into Beamdog to download the stand-alone installer (which is actually what I was referring to when I said client).

Would you mind explaining/showing how the stand-alone installer can be downloaded without logging in? I took a couple screenshots from the BG2:EE website on Beamdog. The first is where I'm not logged in, and I can't see any link to download the installer. The 2nd is where I am logged in, and the download link is available.

If you have the link, you can download it without being logged in. But since you have to own the game in order to use the installer, we hide that link unless you're logged into an account that owns the game.

It's the same as GOG's install links; the difference is that GOG sends the message to the Downloader, and Beamdog downloads the stand-alone installer.

There are very solid reasons to choose GoG over Beamdog (and vice versa), but the lack DRM is not one of them (in either case).

Well I for one believe in buying directly from Beamdog, which I just did with IWD:EE. I'm guessing you get more of a cut from the sale than going through a third-party. I kind of wish I had done that with the first two games as well. But if you ever get around to doing the other two Infinity Engine games, Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale 2, I'll be sure to also get those directly from you as well. Now if you'll excuse me, it seems my download is complete so I have things to do. Thank you Beamdog for breathing new life in these old but good games.
