How To Report Bugs

Before you begin:
  • Make sure you have the latest version. Look at the name of this board.
  • Check the Reported Issues thread and take a quick glance at the first page to see if the bug has already been reported.
  • If your issue is a game text error, please report it in the IWD:EE Game Text Errors topic.
  • If you want to make a feature request, please do so in the Feature Requests forum. Please make clear which game(s) you are requesting features for if it is not obvious from the title.
  • If you're having trouble with your game, please use the Troubleshooting forum.
Do not report bugs if you have installed any mods or edited your saves. If you encounter an issue in a modded game, try to narrow down the cause by reproducing the behavior with a new, unedited game on an unmodded installation. If you can't, the problem may be caused by one of your mods or edits.

To report a bug, create a topic (one topic per bug) that includes the following:

A title that includes your platform in brackets and clearly states what is wrong.
Try to formulate the subject as a "should" or "should not" statement.

Example: [Windows] There should be no audio distortions while the movies play.

A numbered list of exact steps that will reproduce the problem.
Anyone reading the list should be able to follow it without detailed knowledge of the quest or situation. There are two ways to do this:
1. Begin with starting a new game from the main menu.

2. Attach a zipped save and begin with "1. Load the attached save."
In either case, it is okay to include console commands to shorten the steps (see the example below).

A one-sentence statement (each) of the observed and expected behaviors.
As with the subject, try to use "should" or "should not" statements. If you don't know what the expected behavior is, write down the negation of the observed behavior.

Your hardware and any notes or additional media needed to understand or reproduce the issue.
  • Under Notes, include your hardware and anything else you want to add.
  • If you are reporting a visual problem, include a screenshot.

Example report

[Android] Running away from water kin elementals should not prevent you from saving the game.

1. Start a new HoW game with the default party.
2. Ensure that Party AI is turned OFF.
3. C:MoveToArea("AR9712")
4. Move to coordinates x=180 y=830 until the water kin elementals are out of the party's line of sight.
5. Attempt to save the game.

Observed:
The message "You cannot save during combat" appears in the combat log.

Expected:
The game is successfully saved.

Notes:
Tested on a Nexus 7 (2013 model).
Thanks!
