import character from Black Pits

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Can I import a character from a save from the original Black Pits to BGEEII. I'm an android player who isn't 100% happy with any of the PCs I have played in BGEE and I am hoping I dont have time for another play through before BGEEII is released for droid.

I guess a good secondary question (that I think I Know the answer too) is: IS a Black pits character max exp or close to max exp is going to be better than a new PC starting in II (if nothing else for equipment I can carry over)?
