Icewind Dale EE Party Help (please)

I'm planning to run through IDEE pretty soon, and I think I know what kind of party I'm going for. They'd be.
Human Paladin (Kitless or Cavalier): Specializes in one-handed weapons and shields.
Half-Elf Bard (Kitless): Another 1-handed weapons user/
Elf Mage (Wild Mage) OR Sorcerer: Will mostly stay in the back with slings or darts.
Half-Elf Druid (Avenger) OR Fighter/Druid: Weapon loadout will depend on what build I go for.
Halfling OR Dwarf Fighter/Thief: Stabby weapons and bows.
Dwarf Fighter/Cleric OR Half-Orc Barbarian
So, I guess my questions are:
1.) Is the basic party idea sound?
2.) Kitless Paladin or Cavalier? Is the Cavalier's bonuses worth losing using throwing axes?
3.) As someone who hasn't gone through this game yet, would spell selection as a Sorcerer be too difficult? I'll probably reload any especially erroneous wild surges.
4.) Would it be better to have a more casty Druid or a more Fighty Druid?
5.) Should I go halfling or dwarf for my fighty thief?
6.) Will a Paladin and a Druid have enough divine mojo between them, or do I need a dedicated Cleric as well?
Also, any weapon suggestions would be nice. No spoilers, just "there's some good axes so have someone ready to use them." Thank you!

2 - Cavalier; Yes
3 - Yes
4 - Fighty
5 - Halfling
6 - F/C
Some good Paladin Long swords...
Watch your alignments for spells...
2) Cavalier
3) you should be fine if you are familier with the BG series. You can test things with your bard. You don't need the array of anti-caster spells that you do in BG2. If you aren't confident, go for wild mage instead.
4) Casty. You can shapeshift for fighting.
5) Dwarf. The halfling is a better thief, but the dwarf gets % strength which makes them much better at killing stuff. Thief skills will catch up.
6) surisingly, half orcs don't make good barbarians. But the druid and paladin give you suffficient divine casting. I would think about a ranged weapon specialist.
