Importing character with exp cap removed to BG2EE?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
What, if anything, will happen if I play BGEE with with the experience cap removed and later import that character to BG2EE? Will the experience be adjusted down to 161000 xp or will the character stay the same (and most likely then be a bit overpowered)?

    Experience should only be adjusted upward, i.e. if you have less than the normal BG2 starting XP you gain XP, but if you already have more you do NOT lose XP. At least that's how vanilla used to work.
