Shapeshifter still garbage?

I was considering a new party and skimmed through the kits.. shapeshifter.. is he as bad as he was before? No stats, resistances to weapons etc. like every other ww?

His weapons got a slight boost. Normal form does 1d6 slashing (instead of piercing) that hits as though it were a +2 weapon (no to hit bonus) and greater form does 1d10 slashing (instead of 1d6 piercing) and hits as though it were a +3 weapon (no to hit bonus).

I've been playing through the game as one and its actually very good as a tank. There isn't any ankheg mail so until they get Iron Skins single class druids lack good armor. But having a base AC of 2 makes a big difference.
