The Journey Begins; The Adventures of Gareth & Company

Thanks all for taking a look at this thread. Before I begin, I just want to say I'm an old gamer who first became acquainted with the IE games when they first hit the market. I played BG1, BG II, IWD, and IWD 2 way back when. I played them through once, and only recently--with the release of the EE editions--rediscovered my love for these games. I played PnP D&D (1st and 2nd editions) back in the 80s and 90s, and have played a myriad of other role playing and computer role playing games over the years. Enough about me though.
My goal here is to play through the Baldur's Gate saga using a slight variation of SapphireIce101's Minimal Reload Challenge. I will do my best to chronicle this adventure using both text and video, which I will upload to youtube.
The rules I am enforcing on myself are designed to make the game ( vanilla, core rules) as challenging as possible. The rules are as follows:
(1) If Charname dies, reload and continue on.
(2) If an NPC dies (not chunked) no reload allowed. NPC may be resurrected/raised using legal means (temple, etc.)
(3) If an NPC is "chunked," that NPC is gone for the game. I do realize this can cause story problems when transitioning from BG 1 to BG 2, but I'll cross those hurdles down the road.
(4) No pre-buffing for encounters
(5) Explore every area possible, taking into consideration which characters are in party.
(6) NO use of caster memorized haste spells. I consider haste cheese. I believe it is acceptable to cast haste from scrolls and to use oil of speed, as these are of limited supply.
(7) Reasonable Rest Periods -- I will explain this more in my videos. Basically, I see a lot of playthroughs where people rest after every encounter. This defeats the spirit of the game, imho.
My starting character for this adventure:
His stats are high, yes. I admit I did about 50 rolls. It's a bit late now, and I try not to game when I'm tired as that inevitably leads to bad decisions and character deaths. I plan to start my first session tomorrow, and hopefully post a brief synopsis of the gaming session and upload a video of it to youtube.

I am very intrigued by this planed play through. It’s so nice to read you intend on making videos of the installments as well as a written account. I’m also please to see your protagonist is not evil for this run, as I’ve not found as many interesting good party play throughs as evil ones. I’m also finding your voice clear and very pleasant to listen to.
Good luck!
And re: your voice, I quite like it, I get kind of an Alan Alda vibe from it, which brings back memories of watching soooo many reruns of MASH as a kid. So if you stop for a martini midway through a video every now and then I won't be thrown ;-)
