Will multiplayer behave more fluidly?

I've on a few occasions actually played BG2 in multiplayer. I didn't have that bad of a connection either (DSL 3.0 mbps). Even playing on a LAN, the game seemed to behave rather sluggishly in terms of response time with certain actions.

What sort of improved game play can we expect for multiplayer games from EE?
