Metal only \m/ Inside metal, I can enjoy pretty much everything as long as the guitars are predominant however, I tend to focus mostly on extreme stuff. Listening to a looooot of Tech Death these days.
Progressive Rock/Metal all the way. Dream Theater is my favorite band, but of course I favor the more classical prog stuff too. I'm also a big fan of classical and jazz as well.
Many types of music, metal, soundtracks, some anime songs ( japanese girls banzai \o/), epic and atmospheric music in general, i also like piano parts a lot :]
Reluctantly pop, I suppose. My top 3 artists are pop, folk-pop, and alternative-pop, my fourth definately fitting in the 'Other' category, following her heyday as a Punk/Rock artist. Though, I'm also a big fan of musical theatre, being an actor-in-training myself!! ^^
The last three albums I listened to all the way through were, Basso Profundo in old Russia, Jimmy Rosenberg (Gypsy jazz), and something by the Avett brothers. I'm just fickle and eclectic, I'll easily wince at something I was quite happily listening to a few days before.
@Zafiro Yeah, I guess. Werner Herzog used it in one of his films "encounters at the end of the world." I don't want start spamming youtube videos again, but I think if you are curious, just search Herzog Basso Profundo and wise, benevolent google, should come up with the goods.
@Moomintroll, hmm...i'm only saying this because I'm listening to it now, so here it is, Ennio Morricone - The man with the harmonica, Apollo 440 remix; for some reason that always messes with my head.
I'm a big fan of "melodic death metal", where the music is very heavy, but I can understand the lyrics, especially in the chorus part. (That style of melodic singing + heavy music with electric sounds is some of the most appealing music I've ever heard.)
I'd dare to say that In the Court of the Crimson King is THE progressive rock album. For me at least.
Seems like autumn is really coming again. For the last few weeks this record, Imperator, has sounded absolutely magnificent. 2CD's of total black metal madness. Those shrieks give me chills, in a good way.
I think every genre has something to offer. I listen to everything from classic music to heavy metal, maybe expect harder electronic music like techno/trance/psychedelic. From all those artists and bands I mostly enjoy Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their older alums are great funk/punk/rock/rap combination with really positive energy. But then, I may listen to BG soundtrack or Pantera the other day. It all really depends on the mood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIU-KllenqM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzJj5-lubeM&feature=relmfu
Had to choose other because I'm eclectic in my choices. As proof, my favorites (in order) are Tool, Rush, DMB, A Perfect Circle, and Five Finger Death Punch, although Tyr is working its way into a favorite category. I've been known to listen to old school rap, soundtracks, metal, rock, and folk all in the same day.
Well, certainly a lot of rock fans, eh? Myself? Electronica kinda, genre's really are dead ... favourite artists: Boards of Canada, Broadcast, Grizzly Bear, Goldfrapp, Yeasayer, Crystal Castles, Hot Chip. Portishead, PJ Harvey, Stars of the Lid ... I could go on
Picked metal because of all the things listed that was the genre closest to me but I listen to all sorts of stuff, (neo)-classical, jazz, folk, country (yes even that), soundtracks, darkwave, goth/symphonic/power/whatever metal, rock, pop, the list goes on...
To everything from "A cappella" to "Zydeco ".. but some of my favorite Artists & Bands include.. Bohren & Der Club Of Gore, Depeche Mode, Elsiane, Jamiroquai, Jean Michel Jarre, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Prodigy, Queen, Rammstein, Rhapsody/Rhapsody Of Fire, Running Wild, Jimmy Somerville, Schiller, Secret Garden, Sting, Luca Turilli, Wolfsheim, ..
