Let's remove the "Fog of War" from Easthaven.
Granted you've only been there a short time, but you're already in town when game starts. Not to mention, Hrothgar gives you directions.
As the starting prologue area, I think it'd be great if it was setup like Candlekeep in BG:EE. Not only that, but the EH map is beautiful and seeing it all from the get go would be pretty cool.
The Orc Cave area to the east would obviously still be shrouded.
Just my two cents Feel free to disagree.

And Kuldahar too.
kuldahar too.
If you buy this map, you can use it, it dissapears from your inventory and all black fog of war around Great Tree dissapears too.
I figured it was kinda shorthand for asking directions. Like people would tell you about the town and your dude could see kinda far. Almost like a Take 20* roll of "detect surroundings" or something. You know what I mean? In the wild you have hostile things potentially blocking your view and whatnot but in town you can take 20 and see it all through your senses asking random people little questions and whatnot.
(take 20 assumes that a character makes sufficient retries to obtain the maximum possible check result on a roll)
Shroud is the black fog that covers areas that have never been explored by you.
Starcraft 2 features a 2nd variation of the Fog of War. You can see the whole map at the start (No shroud) but the Fog of War for areas you haven't yet explored is darker than the areas you have previously explored (I've personally noticed that it is very difficult to notice the difference between the 2 versions of Fog of War on budget/low quality computer displays).
Just clearing that up for ya HaHaCharade.
