Setting traps for noobs - how, how often and what kind

Hi there,
I'm still new to the game (just left the Friendly Arms Inn going south in the direction of Nashkell) and I'm playing on an iPad.
I'm getting frustrated by the lack of info on how to set traps. During the tutorial Belt lets you set a couple of traps with Imoen, but doesn't explain anything else about them, besides how to access them. If I press&hold the icon that represents "set snares" (at least I suppose that's what the only available traps for Imoen and Montaron are in this early stage of the game) no info shows up.
What damage do they do? How often do they "replenish" (it's not the same as memorizing spells during rests, is it?)? But my most important question: where is all the info on this? In another discussion I've talked about the fact that on iPad you can't press&hold on spells on the action bar to get info, but at least you can go to the spellbook to learn about them. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent of the spell book for thieves' traps, now is there? And in the official manual the word "snare" can't even be found.
Am I missing something? Or is this another serious disadvantage of playing on the iPad? I was annoyed by the lack of spell info on the action bar, but for that at least there was an alternative. I hope I'm just missing something. I would really appreciate some feedback on this.

And I read different kinds of traps become available later in the game. I suppose each one has its own distinct icon? Do they become "introduced" during gameplay? Or do you have any further info on that?
Yes, right-click on icon gives info I quoted above. You can also access Kit Description from Character Sheet (well at least on PC), which also contains that information.
As for different kind of traps, there are 2 sources:
1) Bounty Hunters (Thief Kit) have their own special snare in addition to regular one.
2) High Level Abilities (HLAs) which are not really relevant to BG1, because they require lvl 24 for Thief to be acquired. There are three new traps you can gain from HLAs: Spike, Time and Exploding.
And yes, they all have a different icon.
I don't know how much you know about the games, so if you need anything explained or clarified, just ask =]
Good to know that the kit description has the info I was looking for.
Still, to me this is another example that "press&hold" on the iPad isn't quite as functional as the "right mouse click" it's supposed to be an equivalent of. Like I said, it's the same with (not) getting spell info on the action bar. I hope Overhaul/Beamdog (Dee? Stephen?) fixes this real soon.
Edit:doh, someone said it before. Well. Traps are fun but you are limited to lvl 1 trap for the whole bg1. They really start to pack a punch starting from lvl 11, and in bg2 they are very very powerful tools.
