Watcher's keep. Open it in SoA, finish it in ToB?

So! As I am planning on a funny little run (Wizard Slayer -> Thief) now that WS get spell failure on ranged attacks as well..

I want to go get the Firetooth immediately after exiting Chateu Irenicus, but I don't want to finish Watcher's until ToB.

Now that makes me worried about quest string errors and variables getting screwed over, as is *cough* fairly likely in this rickety old Infinity Engine (always has been, always will be - not critique against Beamdog's effort).

Does anyone have an idea wether or not I will be royally screwed an unable to finish WK in ToB, or should I be fine? Anyone tried this before?
