Difficulty levels - core vs insane

Hello, folks!
What are your thoughts about the "true" difficulty of the listed difficulty levels? Black Isle made a serious mistake, in my opinion, of doubling the xp gain at the insane difficulty. This should make it actually easier. However, in my 3 playthroughs(2 of them unfinished) I found it to be much more challenging, at least in the early parts(I got to the Severed Hand entrance). Which one do you consider more demanding?

    I find insane is easier once you get past the early game. More spawns + double XP is just too much.

    This game REALLY needs an SCS-style mod to make things challenging :/

    Give DavidW time. I'm sure he'll oblige your desire. At least that was his plan before IWD-in-BG2 got turned into IWDEE...
