Lag when casting Fireball

I've run into a graphical issue. Basically whenever I cast a Fireball my FPS drops almost to nil causing massive lag until the spell animation completes. The game reverts to normal immediately afterwards.

I just began noticing this as I started Trials of the Luremaster. It never happened during the normal game. Not sure about HoW. My system specs should be way beyond minimum requirements. I have an Nvidia card if that might be an issue, although I just updated my drivers this week.

Anyone else experience this?

Edit: Forgot to add that it happens with Sunfire too. Same animation I guess?

    Maybe using Skulltrap would work as quick fix unless you rely on the fire type damage ?

    I don't rely on spell damage at all. It's just about ritualistically dumping a Fireball into a room full of undead whenever possible.
