Two questions: RPing as a different race and Dread Necromancy.

Hey! I have two questions I'd like help with.

The first is do you guys think it's k to RP as a race not represented in IWD/BG? I love RPing as Drow in tabletop games and so I usually make an elf and give it the black/blue skin and white hair. I

Second, the Dread Necromancer is one of my favorite classes from 3.5. I'm seeking to play a similar character for Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. Would a Cleric be more similar to this class or a wizard? Or maybe a Cleric/Wizard? Also is it possible to use EE Keeper to make that a Cleric/Necromancer?

In my past threads I've discussed necromancy a lot as it is my favorite fantasy archetype. Atm sort of going through an identity crisis in that in IWD and BG I don't know what to make my charname to be the best necromancer :(

I used to make my elf character blue skinned and rp as a mutant sea elf able to breathe air. Ain't nothing wrong with that. Ofcourse if you add %50 magic resistance to your character via eekeeper to make him more like real drow, that's something else entirely.

Clerics are better necromancers than necromancers in low levels since they get to use animate dead way cheaper. However their other offensive spells are lackluster and high lvl necromancy mage spells are among the most feared and devastating. You can make a cleric/necromancer easily with editing your save game via eekeeper.

IIRC there was a mod for the necromanticaly inclined, so you may want to take a look at that.

I've seen quite a few really good mods! There's the Pale Master sorcerer kit by DarkDogg (I think that was his name)

There's also the Tome of Blood mod that's being worked on that I'm super looking forward too as it as a Fey themed Sorcerer and an Undead themed one. Fey and Undead are my favorite things soooo yeah!

I suppose my best bet is to play Icewind Dale and make a Necromancer, a Cleric, and a Cleric/Necromancer in the party and see which one I enjoy the most and then go through Baldur's Gate with that character! XD

    Thanks for the help! n_n

My answer is pretty similar to Lunar's. RP-ing as whatever the heck you want is totally fine. It's your game! Have fun with it your way! As for the necromancer, there's a couple different ways you can do it. While Cleric/Necromancer, Cleric, and Necromancer work, there's also the idea I had a while back to make the necrosorcerer.

It's just a standard sorcerer, but you choose necromancer spells first when you have spell picks, and very necromancer-y spells when you've run out of actual necromancer spells. The thread even has a spell list of the spells "I" am choosing to put on my necrosorcerer. It's not quite finished, but it's another option.

    Yes.

I'm unsure about EEKeeper, but you can do regular dual-classing with Necromancer and then Cleric, so most likely the engine can handle a multi-class with the combination as well.
