Black Pits II Problem Picking Locks

NoloirNoloir Member, Mobile Tester Posts: 380
Not sure whether this post is appropriate here or it should go under the bug forum. Nonetheless, when creating specialized Thief/Clerics for BGII (i.e Shadowdancer/Cleric) their ability to pickpocket and open locks via thieving icon is disabled along with their specialization skills. I understand the specialilzation skill locks on account of the BPII arc but is it some sort of glitch or bug that prevents Thief/Clerics from using their thieving skill or is it intentionally disabled?

It shouldn't be. But you can only use your thieving skills if you wear light armor (the kinds of armor thieves can normally use), I assume that is the problem.

Nope, my Character had no armour and the pickpocket skill was right beside the shadow dance ability. The ability for a player to access select special skills become "spell locked" on account of the BP2 arc preventing any buffs or access to abilities prior to battle. Found a way to cope though.

    It's a known bug.

@Noloir can you share your coping strategy - that fouled up my first BP2 run too.

You cannot bypass this but you can force every door/chest in the map with 24/25 str, which you achieve with Crom Faeyr (one of the fights can give you that as a reward, the one against golems) or a potion which you buy from Bellowgulp (you can drink them from your inventory)

Appreciate it. Really wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it was. Though it affects minor aspects of the BP2 Arc it doesn't have much bearing on linear back to back battle progression.

Everything that Arunsun posted. Can transfer a BP2 single player game to multiplayer export a character and import a stronger, modified char with 20+ str or a well developed thief long enough to open select chests. Then delete the recent imported character and re-import the original party character first exported and transfer the files back to single-player.

    In Essence:

1.) Transfer BP2 Single player files to the multi-player BP2 files.
2.) Open the game in multiplayer and export a designated party member
3.) Import a character with relatively high strength or Open Locks value
    4.) Open all accessible chests
5.) Delete the character imported in step 3 (optional)
6.) Re-import the charter from step 2 (optional)
7.) Transfer the BP2 files back to single player BP2 files (optional)

A simple go to method to adjust, tweak, and edit aspects of single player games without the use of EEKeeper or the frustration of starting anew.
