This is mine, from Icewind Dale 2.
A party of 4 evil Vhaeraunite drow and two slaves under powerful geas's.
This was many years ago, so names are lost to me, but here is the party composition.
Leader drow male cleric with a few fighter levels
the two slaves, a chaotic good human barb caught on the surface and a evil half orc fighter brought up from the underdark.
back row, two brothers, one a pure rogue and the other a rogue with a few cleric levels. one lawful evil and the other chaotic neutral.
and lastly the sole female in the party, a batshit crazy drow sorceress.
Anyway here is the important bit.
As reclaiming the surface has always "unlike the weak Lolthites" been part of the most great Vhaeraun's master plan, these four devout drow plan to lead there sect to power.
After hearing of the troubles in the north, our party thinks to, as always take advantage of the chaos.
Posing as followers of Eilistraee who joined an adventuring party in Luskan, they arrive to Targos and try to endear themselves to the surfacers, helping wherever they can, speaking much of the hated Eilistraee and generally riding on the coattails of Drizzt Do'urden. All the while knowing there god is taking great pleasure in this deception.
After saving the town, they promise to stop the half breed army at any cost.
As they venture further into enemy territory, they drop their well maintained ruse and show their enemy's the true power of the worshipers of The Masked God of Night, killing where they must, capturing where they can.
After each keep was broken, word was sent back to their sect via magic sending for Reinforcements who would arrive to occupy the area and train the new slaves, thus increasing Vhaeraun's power on the surface while still maintaining and in fact raising their reputation as heroes of the north.
After Isair and Madae are defeated and Iyachtu Xvim betrayed, the party calls for the rest of their sect to come to the surface, thus establishing a solid foothold on the surface in the severed hand for great Masked Lord.
For years to come the party and all the new surface drow keep up the ruse of being followers of the most weak and hated Eilistraee," having their spies spread wide, to eliminate any who would suspect their true god and true intentions." establishing trade routs between the surface and the underdark where surface goods are highly sort after, while simultaneously spreading word of their newly claimed surface land to other hidden Vhaeraunite sects.
Vhaeraunite's folk to the surface in droves.
They spend years amassing weapons, slaves and fellow devout drow,
Until finally they attack.
