Hey all!
Looking to do my first playthrough with IWD:EE. I'm no stranger to the IWD and BG series, so I have an idea of what I'll be doing, but just wanted some feedback on my party before moving in. I aim on doing IWD and HoW with a 5-man party. So, without further ado...
Human - Bard
Pickpocket, back line supporter. War chant of the Sith, support spells, done. And bard specific items of course.
Half-Orc - Fighter/Thief
Trap disarmer and front-liner. Maybe a chunker if I get hide and move silently high enough. SWS with longsword and longbow.
Half-Elf - Fighter/Druid
Front-liner and spell support. TWS with Scimitars.
Half-Orc - Priest of Helm
Support buffer to front-liner, morning-star/flail and a shield? Not quite sure on that.
Elf - Sorcerer
Doesn't need explanation... right?
So, what do you think?

With the sorcerer and bard on the back line you only have 3 characters actually clearing the large amount of trash that you have to work through which will just become slow and tedious. I'd suggest swapping the bard for something else, almost anything could work from Archer to Dwarven Defender. If you did want a second arcane then Fighter/Mage would be a strong choice as well.
For what it's worth dual class is much stronger than multiclass in IWD due to various mechanics.
I've altered my party slightly in that regard:
Human - Bard
Still like the Warchant.
Half-Orc - Fighter/Thief
Need that scout!
Half-Elf - Fighter/Druid
Same build and role as before.
Half-Orc - Fighter/Cleric
More APR.
Elf - Sorcerer or Mage specialist, still deciding
Dwarf - Berserker or Dwarven Defender
Another solid front line
3 dwarfs march up, all drop their defensive stance at the same time, and go all up invulnerable. The fighter/cleric has his staff to stand in the back ranks and whop people in the head/heal. The gnomish mage has a halberd and hastes everyone. The fighter/thief sneaks up and rips apart the enemy backlines.
Then you turn their skulls into drunking cups and toast to your inevitable triumph.
That aside, it's a good party. Really, nearly any party works in Icewind Dale. I'm pretty sure that an all bard party could work, once it got enough levels.
A standard bard for war chant of the sith.
A skald for the nice combat buffs.
A jester to make the enemy go crazy.
3x Blades to cut the enemy into little ribbons.
All 3 bards can cast arcane spells. You've got the bard and the skald for singing. Jester is offensive, and can sit back casting spells or shooting if the enemy is immune to confusion. And blades can be quite good.
Icewind Dale is awesome in that you aren't forced to do anything.
Heck...you could even run 6x Shapeshifters. Just to see 6 werewolves rip the enemy apart. With all of them being casters too...:)
