Replacing Characters

Is there a way to replace a character who I don't want anymore with someone new? I'm just past the Vale of Shadows and am not feelin' this Barbarian.

    I'm not sure of the exact steps but I remember reading a while back that it's possible to add lvl 1 characters at will by opening up your save file within a multiplayer session.

    The way original IWD did? No. The way @Cershen mentioned works, though.
