(Spoilers) Some Feedback on the Gnomish Tools Quest

Just some insight concerning the Gnomish Tools found in the Yeti Cave in the Vale of Shadows. I appreciate the added content for the Enhanced Edition, however I just had some thoughts on it that made it make more sense in my head.
1) How did the Priestess of Auril come to find these tools? Gnomes aren't very common in the Spine of the World. I think it'd be decently cool if the tools already belonged to Oswald, and were an item he lost overboard during his crash. The priestess could have found them afterwards in the Vale, and stashed them in her cave. Makes a bit more sense to me?
2) It would be swell if this content added a journal entry. It would remind new players about giving the tools to Oswald, or denying him.
