Why doesn't Lothander's poison kill me?

I was strolling through the streets of Baldur's Gate for search of dropped golds. Lothander walked up to me and told me my party has been poisoned. I felt bored so I told him to beat it and walked into the next inn and slept for 31 days straight, safe and sound.

I've killed the high priest of the bitch goddess and I have geas removal scroll, but I don't think it should make any difference regarding my fate since I've been poisoned anyway. My journal has registered the quest. Why am I not dying, then?

    You probably have your script turned off. Press A to activate it... or don't... depending on what you want now.
