Emoticons and Word-Processing Screen, *Please*

This is my official request to please put an emoticons menu in this superlative, collaborative forum (or my reminder if this has already been brought up a thousand and one times).
And, as another reminder, we also desperately need a word processing screen, complete with linking features to images that can be easily embedded in posts without expertise in BB code (i.e., buttons that place the correct BB code on the post composition window automatically for the user).
I understand that there must be tremendous deadline pressure on the powers that be at this late date. Perhaps a friendly community member with some expertise in web design might volunteer some work? I don't know whether the job is easy with the right software and skill, or dauntingly hard.
