item revisions v4 in IWDEE

Hello, everyone

I've been trying to install the latest beta version(v4) of the great IR mod by Demivrgvs in IWDEE, with no luck. As i've read in some posts here, I assumed that this will perfectly doable. Am i missing something? Any idea/tips how to make this work?

Thanks

I don't see how this mod would work with IWD given that it changes items that are from BG2, and the items are completely different.

Why do you assume that it would be "perfectly doable"? Where exactly did you read that a BG2-specific mod like IR would work on IWD?

Well, I've read comments from users of these forums who are actually using the mod in IWD, but the Enhanced Edition. Apparently it would work in IWD:EE since they use the same engine. I've also read the same thing about other BG mods, for example BG2 tweaks.

While you can use some mods across games, this isn't simply universally true. In general, mods that only do global rule changes should work fairly well (e.g. adding kits/classes, modifying rule values, etc.) but items that refer specifically to elements of the respective game (e.g. change specific items, characters, quests, etc.) should not work.

It's true that IR does have some global components. Those may work, somehow, but that may require more than simply installing the mod. However, the global changes are only a minor part of IR, the item-specific changes are much more relevant and those will most definitely not work in IWD (unless @Demivrgvs specifically coded it to work, which I am unaware of and doubt).

Thanks for the comment, Lord_Tansheron. What I wanted to install were precisely the global components, like the whole armor system revisited by the mod, the changes of the basic stats of normal weapons and the posibility for kensais to use bracers. Do you know what could be required more than simply installing the mod to do that?

You can try simply installing it and hope for the best and select only the global components, but I have no idea if that works, or whether it works properly. From your OP it sounds like you already tried that and it didn't work; perhaps it would help if you specified what exactly happened? Did you get any error messages, if so which ones?

as you said, i've already tried, and i got the following messages:

"skipping: these component may only be installed on BG2:ToB, BGT, TuTu, BGEE or BG2EE " (for the global components)
"skipping:this component is not compatible with your game" (for the restof the components)

Pretty clear, right? Yet i'm sure some users managed to do it somehow, at least is what they say...

You should ask THEM directly then! :)

There probably are ways to do this, but it's likely that would require delving into the code and fiddling with it in some way, which is not something I can help you with I'm afraid.

Thanks for the help, Lord_Tansheron. After some research, finally I was able to solve the problem: i had to edit the mod's tp2 file and change some signs that were preventing the mod to install on iwdee.

I think even a lot of the global components might have issues, or at least be incomplete. I'm fairly sure the changes have to be applied to every item individually, so you may end up with most named equipment being unaffected.

Let us know how it goes though.

    Hello, everyone.

I managed to install it and have it working(with the same limitations that subtledoctor commented). Subtledoctor, some of your comments on this and gibberlings forums were very helpfull to make it. Thanks.
    I also have SR installed.

Basically, you just have to edit the tp2 file and add "iwdee" to the games' list where the mod will be installed.

    It looks like this:

    REQUIRE_PREDICATE (GAME_IS ~soa tob bgt bgee bg2ee iwdee~) @9002
