Suggestions to vary game difficulty

I know there is no time to incorporate these suggestions in the initial release, but perhaps it might be something for a later update.

To add more variety to the difficulty adjustment of game play I suggest that, in addition to the original difficulty setting, the option to adjust the prebuffs of opposing spellcasters (and others) to be added. The difficulty of gameplay can thus be adjusted in two ways, opening up for many possibilities.

I aim for something like this (it could of cause be done in many ways):

1) no prebuffs
2) basic prebuffs – long duration prebuffs that could apply to spellcasters basic protection. An example spell would be stoneskin, perhaps a wizard might also have a sequencer prepared.
3) major prebuff – as 2 but also with medium duration prebuffs. The opponents have had a short time to prepare. Death ward is an example spell.
4) heavy prebuff –spellcaster have cast all prebuff spells they can muster on themselves and their allies. Fighters and thieves have also used some potions. The opponents are well prepared for this fight.
5) total prebuff – as 4, but the opponents have also conjured up summons, used both scrolls and items. Right from start, the opponents throw in everything they have; this will be a very tough fight.

A third way to vary the difficulty level would be to adjust the tactical scripting of opponents. In a more difficult game, opponents should target their attacks better and thus put up for a more challenging encounter.

Having these features from scratch in an enhanced edition would obsolete the need to install and reinstall possible future mods to change the difficulty of the game. I would also be beneficial to players not using mods; and it will give players who are in for a really hard game already from the beginning something to beat.

I'm totally in favour of the ability to tweak the difficulty of the game in the settings. When I asked about it though in the AMAA on Reddit, the team answered the game should be playable for first-timers, hardcore fans can always add Sword Coast Stratagems (or other difficulty-enhancing mods) they said. But as Sword Coast Stratagems takes such a long time to install (not just picking the choices, but the time it takes for WeiDu to adjust the scripts), I think it would be nice for some of it's features (better AI scripts, pre-buffs) to be available as options in the game-setup.

One of the advantages of BGEE should be, not having to spend hours on tweaking the game, shouldn't it?
