Ahh this thread takes me back. The first time I played tabletop I got a 45 minute lecture from the rest of my party that if I didn't stop trying to sleep with every orc, half-orc, ogre or half-ogre we came across they were going to hit me with a stick and leave me in the woods. I was also told to stop using prestidigitation on everything to make it either fluffy, sticky, purple or smell like bacon.
I also used to have my pet skeleton, Hueleo, carry me places when I got tired. Or grapple the enemy and carry them away if they got to close me and it looked like I might have to actually fight.
An on topic note, the books and rule sets are guidelines. We played with a ton of 'house rules' and I think a lot of people probably do that as well. Don't get to hung up on letting the rule books crowd the fun.
