Familiar death penalties

I'm trying to put my hands on the place where the "familiar is dead" effects take place, but can't find them.

The spell is "SPWI123.SPL", and it only has an effect of "setting a global variable until death". The variable name is "TUTFAM01" and the value is 1.

I can't find this variable anywhere though: I was expecting to find it in EFF or BCS files, but nothing. (I search with weidu).

Can anybody help?

    Actually, I think I (kind of) got it:

    - the familiar system is hard-coded
    - it can be bypassed (although it's a slight pain)

    I'm creating my own bypassed mono-familiar, I will write here for future reference when the base thing is done.

    Such a pity that this thing is hard-coded really..

    Thanks @Grammarsalad, that code (on the gDrive link) it's awfully great to draw inspiration from. My thing has a much different scope (only one familiar, focusing on dialog and quests) so there shouldn't be any copyright infringment in learning from what Raiban (and later Salk) did in there.

    Might still be good to still ask him. He's a pretty cool guy, so it shouldn't be a problem. Also, he could probably give you some advice
