[iPodTouch] BG:EE not playing in full screen anymore after installing iOS 9.0

I'm playing on iPodTouch 5th Gen. Yesterday after installing iOS 9.0 I noticed that BG started running with black bars on both sides of the screen, during videos and gameplay alike.
I checked if BG:EE 2 got the same issue, but it is playing correctly full-screen even after the iOS update.

    New to the game, very much enjoying it so far.

    Only issue is the game not playing in full screen. I am on an iphone6, is there an update in the works that will sort the screen issue out. Those bars down either side of the screen really take away some of the sense of immersion in the game?

    Same problem. We need a fix or sort of a patch, i guess it's not a huge issue to resolve, just do not abandon us(iphone players). We purchased the game (2 actually), so please, find a way to fix it in the shortest time period.

    BUMP. Also happening on iPhone 6 Plus BG:EE

    Notably: doesn't seem to be affecting IWD:EE
