Shouldn't Elven Chain be wearable by Archers?

From a roleplaying pont of view, archers wear light armor because they need lots of mobility in order to perform their amazing archery feats. So I suppose that they could wear an elven chainmail with little penalties, shouldn't they?
Thieves can wear it, after all...

edit: actually, archer is prohibited from wearing metal armor; not like thief that is prohibited from heavier-than-studded, but can wear elven chain because it's not in the heavier-than-studded category since it's incredibly lightweight
then this is not a bug
a feature request could be made to make the archer's armor restrictions equal to the thief's
no reason to impose the druid's archetype (metal = baaad) onto archer, it just doesn't fit thematically
but apparently in iwd this is more sensible
edit: ATTENTION - in iwd:ee it also says "May not wear any metal armor", just checked
to be sure look here [21:09]
