Wizards in IWD2 same as in IWD?
Forget what i wrote before, here is the question:
in IWD2 the wizards have to copy spells into their books, they don't get them free like in NWN games, right?
So it's the same story as in IWD?
But at level 1 i could choose what spells i might posses!!! Why is it that later with progression i don't get the option to choose spells? My intelligence is 20 from the get go btw...

Unlike IWD1 however, wizards gain bonus spell slots depending on their intelligence. So, the higher your intelligence, the higher the number of bonus spells you get. The other difference is that you add your ability score modifier to the Difficulty Class of your spells.
The modifier is the +5 number next to your 20 intelligence. The higher this modifier is, the more difficult it is for enemies to make a saving throw against your spell. I believe the formula is spell level (1-9) plus caster ability modifier. It might be 10 + spell level + caster ability modifier, not sure.
Anyway, the point is, boost your wizard's intelligence as much as you can, and keep a look out for scrolls.
Two other differences.
First, scribing scrolls does not grant you experience.
Second, there is a little hack to allow specialist wizards to cast spells from any spell school. Or a bug really, an exploit. Let's say your wizard is a transmuter. If your transmuter takes one level of another caster class, say paladin or cleric, he will be able to scribe scrolls even of spell schools he should not be able to cast!
Use it, don't use it, up to you.
EDIT: Only sorcerers, bards, clerics, druids, paladins and rangers get to learn their spells for free. Wizards have to find scrolls.
