Background resolutions

in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear
Does anyone know what resolution the new backgrounds will be rendered at? Would be nice if they hold up at 1440p / 2160p or even higher resolutions in the future. On the other hand, considering the sprites aren't remade, they might not fit very well. On a sidenote: I'd be interested to know what programs Beamdog uses to create these new backgrounds.
