Request: Storage for Papers

We have gem bags, scroll cases, and potion holders.

What we could really use is a 3-ring binder or a document carrier, a diary or journal, a scrapbook or a briefcase to carry all of the plot-specific papers in. Baldur's Gate has so many letters, wanted posters, invitations, documents and other stuff, and it all takes inventory space.

...I like this idea. I actually like holding on to some of these, and usually have to toss them while playing inventory management.

Perfect solution, @Hertz. There's actually no real reason to keep the papers after they've been read.

Bonus points if we could have a single journal page for each document, in the order that we found them. That would be perfect.

Even if Baldur's Gate doesn't need this item itself, because 95% of the documents are never used again, the object would be useful if an adventure actually did need to keep old papers: pieces of a puzzle, encryptions, mysterious clues, and whatnot.

Like this idea. You could always put that stuff in a scroll container, though... most of it, at least I believe so. Transferring to Journal would be great.

Its called a scroll case. Purchase multiple ones and put all the quest related junk in that.

I thought those papers could sell for 1gp. I generally convert them to gold. Even if I don't need the gold, I have to. MUST have more gold. Gold.

Time to re-think my character to a dwarf. Who has gold. Lots of gold. Mmmmm. Gold.

A scroll case is a poor answer, I'm afraid. First, almost all of the quest documents are called "letter" and you can't tell them apart. If you are saving them because you're following the plot, you would have to read all of them to find the one you needed. Adding the text into the Journal means you can sort it by quest ... this letter pertains to that plot point, and so on.

Second, there is no need ever to take them out of the case, because mostly you never need them again. Paper props just take up space, and unless you've already played the game, you don't know which you'll need again. I question why the original design called for so many such props: 1 inventory slot for 1 gp, really? And some of them I have to shlep around?

OMG Hertz that was such an amazing idea it made me drool.

I personally love keeping those documents, don't know why, but it makes me feel like I'm an important administrator.

Perhaps a container for all quest items you pick up. I tend to keep stuff required for quest even when they are done; don't know why, sentimentality? Not a bag of holding but something different, just for quest items. This is more an issue for BG2, though. But something for the letters in BG1 would be nice.

I think the option to transfer it to the journal is a good idea, and quest items should be made to fit into the scroll case.

Similarly, I think a great addition, particularly in BG2, would be a key-ring, just a container that holds all your keys.

I also think the letters should be labelled more clearly. It's hard to tell them all apart when they're all titled 'letter.' At least the keys have an owner in the title (usually).

Hehh, I am always keeping them just in case there will be a quest or something later where they can be used...and then get annoyed that I run out of inventory space again. This would be a nice solution.
Maybe instead of adding them to the journal they could go into a specific notebook-type thing so they do not lengthen the already wast journal?
