''What the hell happened''?

What happened was videogames stopped being ''nerd stuff'' and started to be played by kids who couldn't hit a Argentinosaurus.

    That's a little harsh. I think that if you look at games like Dark Souls or Ninja Gaiden Black, you are not lead by the nose in them. Granted, in some games it is like this but not all.

    It's certainly true about the DLCs (which I can live with as pseudo expansions, I suppose) and the atrocious and ridiculous weapon, armor and cosmetic packs that masquerade as actual content. Games are easier nowadays, but that isn't only because they are being designed to be easier. The #1 reason older (mostly DOS-era) games are harder is because of their limited interfaces and UI functions. It was a time when you had to read the manual, and you treasured it like a tome of knowledge. I really believe it's mostly an issue of technology. As user interfaces improved, the games became progressively easier. Look at Might and Magic as a prime example. Or Wizardry. Or D&D games in their infancy (Pool of Radiance) to their more modern efforts (Neverwinter Nights 2). Arena and Daggerfall aren't harder than Skyrim for any other reason than technology progressed lights years in between them.

    One day, you'll learn that attaching your ego to your gaming skills is pretty bad idea. I just hope your realization won't be as painful as mine.

    I'm not attaching my ego to anything. Besides, the video was obviously a jab towards modern FPS like the COD series rather than videogames in general. I liked the ''If Doom was made today'' better.

    Pretty unlikely considering CRPGs are, sadly, nowhere near as famous and memetic as Doom.
