Love for Haer'dalis

Until last night I've always thought of Haer'dalis as mostly tolerable. Lately, however, I've been using him differently and have really been appreciating his Blade class. I've been using him as the designated monster punching bag.
I set him up as being the opponent that the tougher monsters will target; maybe have him attack until he gets their attention, then defensive spin and have him (resume) singing. With melodic chain he'll have pretty good AC. Near end game, with the spin, and enhanced bard song he's at -23, generally untouchable except for criticals. He casts mirror image and stone skins for those cases where he does get touched though. Meanwhile, my backstabbers make their way to the other side, and my cannons have a field day.
I suppose this tactic with a Blade is pretty obvious, but I'm a slow learner. Another tip is that if he is getting mauled, an offensive spin will counteract the defensive spin. So you can get him out of there if you need to.
I recently took down Demogorgon rather easily using this tactic. Haer occupied the two Merilith's that the Demon Prince summons, while the rest of the party concentrated on the big bad himself. Also, a fortunate spell deflection counteracted the implosion that Demogorgon likes to throw. One pierce magic and a two fighters with whirl wind attacks had my party scratching their heads as to what the big deal about this great evil was. Fight went something like that--don't quote me. Demogorgon still owes Zod an item of great power; they had a deal. BeamDog, please make an extension wherein he can go pay Demogorgon a visit to collect what he is owed. I'd enjoy that.
