Missing sounds

Hi,
I first had a problem with no sounds at all which I solved with some of the tutorials provided (with openAL). However, I still have missing sounds in the game, during the fights I cannot hear specific sounds like footsteps or weapons impact etc... I do have X-Fi Titanium, but this issue appears also when I switch to motherboard VIA High Definition Audio.
