Rogue rebalancing and P&P game

maverickmaverick Member Posts: 27
Hello everybody,
I don't know but I hope they will change the gameplay concerning rogues. Now I play with a ninja shuri (perhaps the best kit I've ever tried) and of course I've installed the rogue rebalancing mod and I hope that these changes would be apply in BG EE. With this mod they can compete with a fighter that I used to play before but change is good ^^
Actually, there is a lot a things that I would like to see in this new edition especially bring this game closer to the Pen & Paper AD&D counterparts.

Have you ever played a swashbuckler? With the bonus THAC0 and AC every 5 levels, they eventually outpace a fighter (both wearing the best armor/weapon available). The only thing they lack is a backstab and the HP that a fighter has...

Have you ever played a ninja shuri?

    Advantages:
    - 20% bonus to stealth
    - +2 Bonus to dexterity
    - At high levels they gain the fighter's special abilities.
    - +1 THAC0 and damage every 4 levels
    - +1 Bonus to AC every 5 levels
    - Can specialise in katanas, scimitars, daggers, darts and short bows.
    - Can place 2 points in single weapon style and 3 points in 2 weapon style

    - As the Shuri Ninja increase in level they learn new deadly techniques to aid them in combat or asssasinations
    * Level 5(Blue Belt) The shuri ninja learn to detect illusions using True sight twice a day
    * Level 10(Purple Belt) They learn to strike at pressure points with their bare hands and stun their opponents unless they made a save.
    * Level 15(Red Belt) They learn to maximise the damage they deal for a limited time once a day (kai). They gain another use every 10 levels
    * Level 20(Brown Belt) They learn the monk's quivering palm which they can use once a day.(The secret was stolen from a monastry). Opponents will die from the blow unless a save is made.
    * Level 25(Black Belt) They learn to coat their weapons with poison once a day
    * Level 30 They learn to strengthen their minds against all mental attacks once a day (Chaotin Commands). Their stealth increases by another 20%.
    * Level 35(First Dan) Their skill in combat increases (+1 bonus THAC0). They can coat their weapons with poison once more a day.

    Disadvantages:
    - Can't set traps
    - -2 penalty to strength, constitution and charisma
    - Can only use katanas, scimitars, daggers, darts and bows
    - Can't use '2-handed weapon' and 'sword and shield' style
    - Can't dual class
    - Can only be a Chaotic alignment
    - Only humans can become Shuri Ninjas.

i take it it's a custom mod? was it an official PnP kit?

A custom mod, because as you said the lack of backstab is important for the swashbuckler but with rogue rebalancing, this kit uses the fighter's thaco progression table. I'll probably take a thief that I'll specialize with this kit with the enhanced edition. So for an official p&p kit, I agree with you, the swashbuckler is amazing ^^
