Where can I find the Infinity Engine game directory?

Having recently lost my PC to senile dementia I'm having to re-install everything on a new PC (XP cap remover, Dungeon be Gone, Tweaks etc.) and I keep getting an error message that tells me to install the programme in the Infinity Engine game directory - which I can't find anywhere (I've even looked down the back of the sofa).
Can anybody help me please?

    The game's root folder always contains the chitin.key. Do a global search for this file and you'll also find the game's root folder.

    it does not recognize the steam folder as an installation folder

    are you looking in program files (x86) or program files? steam is 32 bit software so it will be in your program files (x86) not your program files
