Thone of Bhaal: Hexxat quest (spoilers)

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
Is there anyway to save Hexxat from killing herself after completing her quest in ToB? Do you need to be in a romance with her?

If not can I get all her equipment back? It seems she dies in a random location and I cannot get it back.

    You don't need to be in a romance with her - if you've got at least 14 Charisma, tell her that she's better off as a vampire, and that all Larloch can offer her is death. That'll convince her to stay.
