AI script tweaks?

i understand there are contractual limitations regarding changing any of the original source content, but i was feeling my question falls into a grey area - can the AI scripts be altered, to basically do what they were described/intended to more accurately? ex: wizard aggressive (cast offensive spells, use ranged/melee weapons) can it be made for the script to identify that the character has other spells besides first lvl ones, or be able to determine the better spells/actions to use for the scenario? (currently i see many mages spam sleep, even after everything is asleep...) also, can special abilities be factored into the scripts? just to me seems like they can be a bit better, and factor in more of what the character kits have available, making using some of the NPCs more usable/enjoyable.
