New Cleric NPC

My request is a new cleric NPC, someone who we can get closer towards the beginning of the game. As it is I usually get Yeslick, but I can't get him until the Cloakwood Mines, and that takes a while.
Plus, It would be a good opportunity to create a female-female romance, which seems to be a request going around.

You have already got Branwen which is a pure cleric at Nashkel Carnival and its quite early in the game..

I don't want to seem too picky, but I don't like Branwen, perhaps my request should be for a GOOD cleric NPC.

Good in terms of alignment or in terms of performance? Because Viconia's one screen away from the Friendly Arm Inn...

Alignment mostly, but performance is also good.

Hey, Viconia isn't that much better than Branwen... All she has on her is some magic resistance and a level 2 spell...

@Xavioria: Not by much, but if you want a Cleric within spitting distance of the game's opening screens, she's it.

(Admittedly, I used BGT when playing the games, so her stats were updated to BG2's standards and Tome boosts were carried forward, putting her considerably ahead of the competition...)

well i can understand that @shawne. Who wouldnt' want a buffed up character. I don't know if it's fair to put in the standard of using the books though... but then again it IS fair if it's in the game... so...

I do think Viconia gets more love than Branwen for more than stats though. Viconia is a Drow with a far more pronounced backstory, not to mention a direct appearance in Baldur's Gate 2 as well. I absolutely love Viconia myself, as she can be quite ruthless, but at the same time, very cordial. Of the two Cleric women, I would definitely say that Viconia is the more interesting of the two.

@Xavioria: There's also the fact that she's one of the few characters who can potentially accompany you throughout the entire saga - my PC was female, so I didn't romance her, but in a way that was an even better relationship, like evil best friends. :)

@shawne but even more than that, now that I think about it, is the fact that Viconia is of a (somewhat) unique race, and having her in your party during and right after the Underdark makes for a very interesting story plot. What better NPC to bring with you to the Underdark than a Drow?

@Xavioria: Well, that's one of the great things about BG2 - there's an area of interest for practically every NPC. Of course, for Viconia it's an entire chapter. :)

Now that I think about it, ARE there any Good aligned Clerics in either game?

Yeslick is a Lawful Good Dwarf Fighter/Cleric (which makes him iconic, common dwarves being LG generally, and having Fighter/Clerics as leaders), you get him just before you fight Davaeorn. Let's compare stats.

    Yeslick (LG) S15 D12 C17 In7 W16 Ch10 (Ftr/Clr 6/6 in BG1, 7/7 in TotSC) has dispel special
    Branwen (TN) S13 D16 C15 In9 W16 Ch13 (Clr 7 in BG1, 8 in TotSC) has spiritual hammer special
    Quayle (CN) S8 D15 C11 In17 W10 Ch6 (Clr/Ill 6/6 in BG1, 7/7 in TotSC) has Invisibility special
    Viconia (NE) S10 D19 C8 In16 W15 Ch14 (Clr 7 in BG1, 8 in TotSC) has spell resistance
    Tiax (CE) S9 D16 C16 In10 W13 Ch9 (Clr/Thf 6/7 in BG1, 7/8 in TotSC) has summon ghast special

In addition to these three healers, you have

    Faldorn (TN) S12 D15 C11 In10 W16 Ch15 (Drd 8 in BG1, 10 in TotSC) summon dread wolf special
    Jaheira (TN) S15 D14 C17 In10 W14 Ch15 (Ftr/Drd 6/7 in BG1, 7/8 in TotSC) starts with bonus xp

With one dual class option (with wis tome, can go rogue with dex tome)

Xzar S14 D16 C10 In17 W16 Ch10 (no idea what advantages he has...Montaron? A more complete spellbook if starting at a higher level? Montaron, for example, has an impossible amount of HP if you get him later on)

    Wisdom spell bonuses
    12 or less, nil
    13 1
    14 1
    15 2
    16 2
    17 3
    18 4

Yes, without a doubt "Yeslick" is my favorite bg1 cleric (although his name is a bit strange), but what I would like is a good cleric that I can get earlier on.

Aerie. But she's multiclass, so, y'know.

Anomen sort of counts in my book because I've always viewed him as Lawful Good (because of his constant looking down on "scum" and such), but he's Lawful Neutral in terms of the game.

By the way, it always bothers me - why isn't Branwen 'available' as NPC in BG2?
