Which platform version of SoD to get for DVD version of BG:EE?

I previously purchased the DVD version of BG:EE (UK import) through http://www.amazon.com/Baldurs-Gate-Enhanced-Edition-DVD-IMPORT/dp/B00Y2R8B9O. (since I prefer physical copies)
It looks like the current pre-order refers to the Beamdog client version. When I click on the link to the $19.99 SoD and add it to my cart, it appears as a $39.98 bundle which includes BG:EE and SoD. Removing just the BG:EE portion deletes the entire bundle from the cart.
Other threads mentioned GOG and Steam being available at a later date.
The FAQs state:
Q. GoG/Beamdog version of BGEE/SoD?
A. The Beamdog version of SOD won't work with the GOG version of BGEE. The general rule is: You will want to purchase Siege of Dragonspear on what ever platform you purchased Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition on.
So does that imply I will have to wait for a cheaper DVD version of SoD to be available? (collector's edition is a tad expensive) Or will the GOG or Steam versions work with my DVD copy of BG:EE?
