At the Graveyard Biff disdained the use of a PfU scroll and just relied on his own buffs - which proved to be a fatal mistake. Nevin stupidly attacked his uncle while invisible and died as a result, though Biff did manage to take revenge for him.
After defeating the Crypt King disaster struck against some nearby mummies. Often in that fight I will micro-manage the combat such that the mummies don't get an opportunity to attack at all (as they have quite slow movement and attack speeds). However, with Biff buffed up I moved around much less than normal and, crucially, didn't keep a close eye on the progress of the battle. I didn't expect the mummies to hit easily (and checking with the autosave they did need a critical to hit). I'm used to mummies doing 7 damage per click from their disease and wasn't worried when I noticed Biff had taken some damage - after all he was only a step or two from the door and had a guaranteed successful rest immediately outside. Biff was hasted so the speed the damage was occurring was increased, but what I hadn't expected was that the amount of damage would also be higher. From 40 HPs he went down immediately to 26 rather than 33 and, although he was literally standing on the exit point at that time, I decided it was time to leave. During the area transition though he took more damage and when I paused the game as he arrived outside he had just 12 HPs left. I expected that to still be OK, but resting must take a moment to activate as he died before that could happen.
I was slightly bemused by that and thought initially that Biff must have been hit not once, but twice. However, a bit of testing with the autosave showed there is an apparent bug with mummy damage. After being hit the amount of damage per click is sometimes 7, but is also sometimes 14 and on one occasion I even saw 21 in the relatively small number of tests I did - and I'm fairly sure that this variation is not intentional.
The primary aim of this challenge was to complete BG1, which I've now done. I tend to get tired of buffing quite quickly, so I didn't really expect to get too far in BG2 anyway. However, in principle I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be possible to continue the challenge all the way through BG2 and I dare say I'll have another go at that at some point in the future.
