Edwin Dynaheir Quest Problem

In my game I went right to Edwin without picking up Minsc. Edwins quest to go kill the witch is activated after I recruit him. When we find Dynaheir, we go through the dialog about picking one or both of them for the party, then I decide to kill her. After she is killed the quest is not finished and no dialog is initiated. I even went back and talked to Minsc and egged him into getting killed by my party, yet the quest was still Incomplete and no quest related dialog occurred l.
